MDT-A2 Distance Relay Scheme
The MDT-A2 is all static microprocessor based distance relay scheme capable of
protecting modern power systems with voltage of 132kV, 220kV, 400kV, 500kV,
etc. Due to its high degree of reliability, selectivity, sensitivity and
high speed tripping performance, it is possible for MDT-A2 to keep power systems
stable from all kinds of faults at direct earthing system and free from
unwarrantable tripping.
MDT-A2 distance relay scheme provides the complete three phase multi-zone
distance protection both for phase and earth faults, and also, it is applicable
in use with carrier aided schemes, auto-reclosing schemes, single and/or three
phase tripping facilities, etc.
By means of new digital technology, [R (resistance), X (reactance)] from the
relay to the fault point can be directly calculated with high accuracy even in
the heavily distorted waves which are mostly produced in the large capacitive
line fault. Therefore the MDT-A2 can be applied to the cable line system
in addition to the over-head line system.
And also continuous self-checking for micro-processing circuits will remarkably
remarkably improve the relay availability.
